THE LIVING SOUTH

Joseph P-Nut Johnson: Porch ChroniclesArun Drummond: Memory Keepers

The Living South brings together Joseph “P-Nut” Johnson and Arun Drummond for a special exhibition celebrating the depth, humor, creativity, and cultural memory found within Southern folk art. Their works speak in the language of lived experience — a blend of storytelling, resilience, and everyday truth. Through small, intimate pieces, the exhibition offers a window into the moments, traditions, and relationships that shape the South and the artists who call it home.

P-Nut Johnson’s Porch Chronicles captures the familiar rhythms of community life: the conversations, laughter, and small dramas that unfold on front steps and neighborhood corners. His imagery is bright, narrative, and deeply human. Arun Drummond’s Memory Keepers carries forward stories of heritage and connection through his signature small works — pieces rooted in culture, symbolism, and care. His practice honors memory as both a personal and collective inheritance.
